Varicose veins are common, but they are not only an appearance concern. When vein valves weaken, blood can move backward and create pressure that contributes to swelling, aching, heaviness, cramping, itching, or visible veins.
Haslet reached an estimated 5,267 residents in 2025, with an adult population of approximately 4,035. Applying published adult prevalence estimates suggests that about 968 adults may have visible varicose veins and roughly 242 may show signs of more advanced chronic venous disease.
Haslet workers also average about 29 minutes of travel time to work. Sitting, standing, or driving for long periods does not prove that vein disease is present, but existing symptoms can become easier to notice during those routines. A medical evaluation can determine whether venous reflux is contributing.
Leg symptoms can affect much more than exercise. Swelling, aching, cramping, or heavy legs may become frustrating during errands, family activities, workdays, or time spent walking around the community.

Treatment should match the vein problem found during the evaluation. A larger refluxing vein that is increasing pressure in the leg requires a different approach from small spider veins that remain close to the skin.
Board-certified vein doctors may use onsite duplex ultrasound to map abnormal blood flow before treatment. For significant venous reflux, options can include ClosureFast radiofrequency ablation or VenaSeal. Selected varicose veins and spider veins may be treated with microfoam or compounded sclerotherapy.
The goal is to close unhealthy veins so blood can reroute through healthier vessels, helping improve circulation and provide long-term symptom relief. Treatment is performed in-office with little to no downtime.

Varicose veins cannot always be prevented, especially when genetics, age, or pregnancy increase risk. Regular movement, maintaining a healthy weight, avoiding long uninterrupted periods of sitting or standing, and using compression when recommended may help reduce venous pressure.
Varicose veins caused by damaged valves generally do not permanently disappear on their own. Movement, elevation, or compression can improve symptoms, but the underlying reflux may remain.
Treatment may include radiofrequency ablation, VenaSeal, microfoam sclerotherapy, compounded sclerotherapy, or another minimally invasive option. The right procedure depends on the affected vein, symptoms, and ultrasound findings.
Spider veins are often a surface or cosmetic concern. When they occur with swelling, aching, heaviness, skin changes, or larger varicose veins, an evaluation can determine whether deeper venous disease is also present.
Vascular ultrasound evaluates blood flow and can identify valves that are not closing correctly. The findings help the vein doctor determine whether visible veins or recurring symptoms are connected to a deeper refluxing vein.
