Clinical focus
Visible veins and persistent leg symptoms can have different causes. Dr. Powell assesses the full picture to determine whether venous disease is contributing.
Venous circulation
Assessment of impaired vein-valve function and venous reflux that may contribute to ongoing discomfort or changes in the lower legs.
Visible veins
Evaluation of enlarged or visible surface veins, with attention to symptoms, vein anatomy, and whether an underlying reflux problem is present.
Leg discomfort
Review of recurring swelling, aching, cramping, heaviness, and fatigue to understand whether a vein condition may explain your symptoms.
Skin & wound changes
Assessment of lower-leg discoloration and slow-healing wounds when venous insufficiency may be affecting the skin and surrounding tissue.
Onsite vascular imaging
Ultrasound helps the care team examine vein anatomy and blood flow, including whether valves are allowing blood to flow backward. Those findings can help identify venous reflux and guide treatment decisions.
Texas Vein Experts provides onsite ultrasound as part of its evaluation process. Dr. Powell and the team consider imaging alongside your symptoms and medical history when discussing a treatment plan.
Treatment options
Dr. Powell and the TVE team use your evaluation and vein anatomy to discuss suitable treatment options. His background includes extensive experience in ablation and surface-vein procedures.
Controlled heat closes a selected vein affected by reflux, allowing blood to flow through healthier veins.
Prescription microfoam treats eligible varicose veins and refluxing veins when the diagnosis and anatomy support this approach.
An injected solution closes selected small varicose or spider veins so they can gradually fade as the body absorbs them.
Medical adhesive seals an eligible refluxing vein using a catheter-based procedure without heat.
Selected surface varicose veins are removed through small skin openings. Dr. Powell’s clinical experience includes phlebectomy.
Treatment recommendations depend on your diagnosis, symptoms, and vein anatomy. Your care team will explain the options that fit your needs.
