Clinical research suggests that nearly one in four adults may develop visible varicose veins, while a smaller percentage experience more advanced chronic venous disease. These conditions can reflect underlying venous reflux and may progress when unhealthy vein valves continue allowing blood to pool in the legs.

VenaSeal closes selected veins with medical adhesive, while Varithena microfoam and compounded sclerotherapy can treat appropriate varicose or spider veins. Each option is selected according to vein anatomy, symptoms, and diagnostic findings.

Varicose veins deserve medical evaluation when they cause persistent pain, swelling, heaviness, bleeding, skin discoloration, inflammation, or sores near the ankle. Sudden swelling or significant new leg pain should be evaluated promptly.
They can. Symptoms may include aching, burning, throbbing, cramping, heaviness, tenderness, fatigue, or swelling. Some visible varicose veins cause little discomfort, while others are associated with significant symptoms.
Compression stockings may reduce swelling, aching, and heaviness while they are worn. They can support conservative care, but they do not repair a damaged valve or permanently close a refluxing vein.
Treatment may include radiofrequency ablation, VenaSeal, Varithena, compounded sclerotherapy, or another targeted option. The best approach depends on the veins involved and the findings from evaluation and ultrasound.
Duplex ultrasound shows how blood is moving through the leg veins and can identify valves that are not closing properly. The results help determine whether visible veins or symptoms are connected to deeper venous reflux.
