Varicose veins are more than a cosmetic concern for many adults. They can develop when vein valves stop closing effectively and allow blood to move backward. Over time, the extra pressure can contribute to aching, swelling, heaviness, itching, cramping, skin changes, and other signs of chronic venous insufficiency.

Duplex ultrasound gives the vein doctor a map of blood flow before treatment. If a larger superficial vein is refluxing, options may include ClosureFast radiofrequency ablation, which uses controlled heat to close the unhealthy vein, or VenaSeal, which uses medical adhesive. Varithena microfoam can treat selected varicose veins, while compounded sclerotherapy may be used for smaller surface veins and spider veins.

Texas Vein Experts serves White Settlement from its Fort Worth clinic at 9628 Bartlett Circle #360. The clinic evaluates varicose veins, spider veins, leg swelling, venous reflux, and chronic venous insufficiency with board-certified vein doctors and onsite ultrasound.
Varicose veins should be evaluated when they cause persistent pain, swelling, heaviness, bleeding, inflammation, skin discoloration, or sores near the ankle. Sudden swelling or significant new leg pain may require prompt medical evaluation to rule out other conditions.
Many varicose veins do not cause serious complications, but untreated venous disease can progress in some patients and contribute to inflammation, bleeding, skin changes, or slow-healing ulcers. Persistent symptoms are a reason to have the circulation evaluated.
Compression stockings may reduce aching, swelling, and heaviness while they are worn. They can support symptom management, but they do not repair a damaged valve or permanently close a refluxing vein.
Sclerotherapy is commonly used for selected spider veins. A medical solution is injected into the vein so it closes and gradually fades. If spider veins occur with swelling, aching, or larger varicose veins, ultrasound may be recommended first to check for deeper venous reflux.
They can. Symptoms may include aching, throbbing, burning, cramping, tenderness, heaviness, leg fatigue, or swelling. Some visible veins cause little discomfort, while others become more symptomatic after long periods of sitting or standing.
